Stance: Keeps front foot open and on toes, with toes turned inward. Hands are held at head level. Uses a big leg lift as his trigger, while keeping his upper body and hands back.
Approach: Very patient approach, draws a lot of walks. Has good pitch recognition and strike zone awareness. Loves the ball on the inside of the plate, where he can turn on it. Goes to the plate with a plan and executes it. Has incredible confidence at the plate.
Hitting Ability: Lightning quick bat. Pulls hands in well and rotates hips quickly. Line drive swing that generates a lot of pop and backspin. Uses all fields well. Will hit for a high average and get on-base a tonne. Doesn’t strikeout nearly as much as most power hitters. Incredible pitch recognition, can hit any pitch in any location.
Power: Plus plus power, capable of hitting up to 50 homeruns annually. Has power to all fields, but the majority of his homeruns are to the pull field. Only question will be about returning from his wrist injury of last season, as wrist injuries sometimes zap power from hitters.
Running: Slightly above average speed, capable of stealing bases if he wants to. The desire to be a big base stealer has decreased as he is more heavily relied upon to knock in runs then steal bases. Still capable of stealing 10 bases a year if he wants to.
Fielding: Above average fielder. Plus range going side to side, average range going forwards and backwards. Struggles to play balls against the wall. Plus arm strength and accuracy, runners are hesitant to challenge him. Has the ability to play the corner infields. Slightly below average defensively at third base, but has the arm to play there. Average first baseman, does a good job of picking balls in the dirt and has soft hands. Can play both corner infield positions admirably, but fits best in right field.
Physical Description: Athletic and muscular build. Great muscle distribution and definition. Barrel chested with strong forearms, chest and powerful lower half. No concerns over adding bad weight.
Projection: Elite franchise player, capable of contending for the MVP award annually, a fixture on All-Star teams. A middle of the order bat, who has versatility on defense. Shows great leadership in the clubhouse.
